University & Industry Cooperation Support Programmes

Governments that recognise how important university & industry cooperation is for economic development run various programmes to grow and strengthen it. Germany, for example, is one of the countries that applies university & industry cooperation most systematically. Its research centres encourage principal investigators to spend the first five years of their careers at basic research centres and the next five at applied research centres, fully funded, developing products that benefit industry.

Horizon 2020, the European Union’s most comprehensive programme for science and researchers, supports and encourages university & industry cooperation far more strongly than its predecessor FP7. Both Turkish industry and Turkish researchers can benefit from these programmes. For more information, visit https://h2020.org.tr/tr .

In Türkiye, university & industry cooperation is supported through TÜBİTAK TEYDEB programmes, and TÜBİTAK ARDEB programmes also offer various grants that encourage it. These programmes, open both through calls and through general applications, give strong support to industry and researchers alike. For certain public-interest call-based projects, cooperation funding is also available through TÜBİTAK KAMAG programmes. Outside TÜBİTAK, university technology transfer offices (TTOs), TTGV and regional development agencies also provide support for university & industry cooperation.
